Ammunition Design & Development

Veritay Technology Inc. has more than 20 years of experience in ammunition design, development, and testing.  Through the years, we have participated in many ammunition development programs, ranging from small to medium and large caliber ammunition, and from conventional cased ammunition, to advanced concepts such as caseless and cased telescoped ammunition.

As either Prime-contractor, or sub-contractor, we have played a major role many interesting and exciting ammunition development programs.  A small sample of these programs includes:

Lightweight small caliber Cased Telescoped Ammunition - Developed for the U.S. Army, the lightweight CTA cartridge uses thermally consolidated propellant with a light weight polymer case to reduce ammunition weight by nearly 40%.

TERM-KE (XM1007) is a 120mm gun launched, rocket-boosted, guided anti-tank round.  Veritay developed and produced consolidated propellant charge for the round. We also designed and produced a micro-controller based, smart electronic ignition system for the round that compensates for ammunition temperature.

MRAAS - Multi-Role Armament and Ammunition System.  Veritay investigated a 105mm Cased Telescoped Ammunition concept for the Future Combat System armored vehicle.  Studies included investigation of ignition for stick and consolidated granular propellants.

The Tround (Triangular Round) was a novel ammunition concept that combined a telescoped ammunition configuration with a triangular cross-section. The triangular cross-section offered much greater packaging efficiency, and allowed the use of a novel rotary open-chamber weapon design. The 20mm Tround shown here used a polymer cartridge case.
