Gun Barrel Erosion Inhibitor
Ever increasing demand for improved gun system performance has led to the use of more energetic and more erosive gun propellant formulations. While improving performance, these new propellants can dramatically accelerate gun tube wear, requiring more frequent tube replacement. The net result is increased life-cycle costs and an increased logistical burden.
Veritay's Erosion Inhibitor paste additives have been proven to protect the bore surface from thermal and chemical attack in every round of ammunition in which they have been used. Our Erosion Inhibitor pastes can be used as a liner in large-caliber applications, or in the case closure plug for separately-loaded ammunition. For fixed ammunition, from small caliber to tank ammunition, the Erosion Inhibitor paste is typically located in the shoulder region of the case.
Our Erosion Inhibitor pastes function by forming a temporary barrier to protect the barrel from heat and chemical attack during a shot. It is then swept away along with the heat it has absorbed out the barrel. Our Erosion Inhibitor pastes do not build up or foul the gun barrel. These pastes can be custom tailored for your particular application.
